Why Thrive?

  • The majority of maternal deaths are preventable.

  • America is the only industrialized country with a rising maternal mortality rate despite spending more on healthcare per capita.

  • Statistics show that the U.S has the lowest number of midwives (approx. 6 per 1000 women) much lower than other countries with better birth outcomes. France, Germany, Switzerland have over 25 midwives per 1000. All countries have almost the same amount of OB/Gyns per 1000 women.

  • Statistics show the more midwives providing individualized care the better the birth outcomes.

  • The U.S cesarean rate is approximately 32% of all births the World Health Organization recommends a safe rate of 10%..

  • Most cesarean sections that take place in the United States are caused by other unneeded interventions.

  • The U.S and Canada are two of the only developed countries that have more OB/GYNs than midwives.

  • Most women that experience a pregnancy loss or miscarriage do not know what to expect. They are not educated on the risk of the most common procedures used for clearing a womb, what to expect, what is normal and how to care for themselves (physically or emotionally) properly to allow the safest outcomes.

  • 1 in 6 people globally are affected by infertility.
